Ambulatory Polygraphy
If there is a suspected sleep apnea an ambulatory polygraphy should be performed. You will get a small portable device to take home, which measures the most important sleep parameters.
The handling of the device and the application of the sensors is explained to you in our practice. It is important that you wear this instrument during at least 6 hours of sleep and return it by 2 p.m. the next day for evaluation. Patients who do not come from Berlin can wear the device at night in a hotel and return it by messenger.
The polygraph detects respiratory flow during sleep and apnea, the airway pressure, oxygen saturation in the blood, the number of heartbeats per minute (heart rate), and snoring sounds and body position.
In case of a positive detection, it makes sense to follow further examination in our sleep laboratory.
